Max King Events was proud to sponsor A Gift for Teaching’s Back-to-School Blast to help raise money towards providing teachers with free resources and materials for students in need. This year, guests traveled back in time to the 1980’s to experience some of our most radical themed décor.
Our 80’s Flashback Double Entry framed the main doors of the ballroom featuring popular icons from the decade. An oversized VHS Tape provided the perfect opportunity for custom branding and was complimented by Pac Man, a Rubik’s Cube, a giant cassette tape and Homer Simpson himself! We used the iconic MTV Moon Man, from Spectacular Themes to finish the look.
Placed at the auction stations were two of our fully-dimensional 12’ Guitar Perimeters. These specific guitars are finished in-the-round, offering a great addition to the foyers auction area.
Our Boom Box Entry was modified into a stage background complete with a lit turn dial and faux brushed aluminum speakers. The large piece provided the perfect backdrop for the band SWITCH and various hosts throughout the evening. The MKE team worked closely with the EXPO Event Solutions team to create a the perfect stage backdrop. EXPO Event Solutions did a great job bringing all of our AV visions to life!
Flanking the stage was more of our 12’h Perimeter Guitars! Each side of the stage had two additional guitars. To the right of the stage was a Delorean replica that featured white spandex sails behind it showcasing clips from the movie, Back to the Future!
Our Purple Rain Bar was wrapped in purple velvet fascia and acted as the center focal point of the ballroom. The inner-lit glass block bars provided 4-sided bar area and surrounded an oversized replica of Prince’s guitar.
Two Electric Guitar Benches & Tables were placed on either side of the ballroom and paired with 30” Guitar Pick Tables. The area provided additional table space and seating where guests could chill out and relax during the evening. As an added touch, we added a mix of colorful spandex sails to create a background for the seating area.
Our Pac Man-Arcade Station provided buffet space for a variety of meats and cheeses for guests to enjoy. On the other side of the room was our Rubik’s Cube displays created a 3’ x 3’ table-height surface where attendees could play a game of oversized Jenga. Cornhole sets and our Connect 4 were also distributed throughout the area for guest use.
Guests could “head back to school” and participate in a game of trivia while sitting at our Traditional Classroom Desks. The area was backed by several sets of School Lockers.
A colorful pair of Oversized Sunglasses marked the location of the Photo Booth station where groups could capture memorable pictures all night long.
To tie the whole look together, one of the AGFT committee members created outstanding centerpieces featuring nostalgic 80’s memorabilia .
The MKE team looks forward to participating in A Gift for Teaching’s Back-to-School Blast each year and the 80’s theme was truly a hit! We love being involved in an event where not only do the attendees enjoy themselves, but they help to support a great cause.
